An Innovative and Systematic Approach
Bona acts with global responsibility. We proactively remove
potentially hazardous chemicals in line with new technology,
and Bona's standards easily measure up to legislation.
Our innovative and systematic approach enables us to make our
contribution to global sustainability. This approach is giving results
with true impact for a better working and living environment.
Our portfolio ranges from dust-free, ergonomic sanding
machines to waterborne, low VOC* finishes and adhesives.
Ever since the 1970s, we have worked continuously to
remove solvents. By offering the market waterborne finishes
we have avoided emitting between 50 and 100 million litres
of solvents, resulting in environmental savings both for
the environment and the craftsman. In 2010, we achieved
our aim to cease the sales of solvent-based finishes and
adhesives in the EU.
Green Indoor Environment
Over the years, it has become more and more important
to consider the effects of products on indoor air quality
and evaluate them from a sustainable design perspective.
This green building trend affects the whole industry, and we
strongly believe that consumers of tomorrow will be even
more concerned about the materials used in their homes.
Bona has made a significant contribution to indoor air quality
by bringing the emissions from our finishes and adhesives
down to very low levels - below all legislated limit values
around the world.

scheme that awards environmentally

in Singapore for several of our
waterborne finishes, cleaners and
silane-based adhesives.

Over 90 Years of Passion
At Bona, we are proud of our history. Back in 1894, the 26-
year old William Edner opened a small grocery shop in Malmö,
Sweden, where he started selling coffee. The business went
well and during the 1910s floor wax came into the picture - a
completely new product to the Swedish market.
Within five years, floor polish, mop oil, dry floor cleaner,
waxing equipment, and other floor care products were
added. More than 90 years later, those simple origins have
developed into a company that leads the industry, and sets
standards worldwide.
